Convenience retailers could generate more than £5,940 in additional annual yogurt and dairy drinks sales by improving their range and merchandising, according to a new category guide from Yoplait.
From Chiller to Checkout: Winning in Yogurt and Dairy Drinks with Yoplait focuses on making better use of existing chiller space and highlights health, value and convenience as three trends driving category growth.
The guide suggests retailers build their range around kids, functional, dairy drinks and treat segments, while grouping products around shopper missions such as breakfast, lunchbox, on-the-go and for later. It also recommends using secondary siting and POS in areas including food-to-go and high-footfall chillers.
Yogurt and dairy drinks are worth £297m in convenience and growing by 9.6% year on year, while 96% of UK households buy yogurt. Plain, natural and Greek yogurt is growing by 22.2% year on year.
The guide covers Yoplait brands including Petits Filous, Wildlife Choobs, Yop, Frubes and Skyr, and is available from the Yoplait website.
