TWC launches Channel Track data platform

Transactions dashboard

TWC Group is set to launch Channel Track, a new data and insight platform designed for wholesalers, operators and suppliers across the UK route-to-market sector.

Going live on 1 September, the service has been developed over an 18-month period and combines credit and debit card transaction data with large-scale consumer research to provide insights into convenience retail and foodservice performance.

Channel Track will analyse billions of card transactions from more than 10 million UK consumers across 225,000 convenience stores and foodservice outlets. The spend data will be complemented by 70,000 consumer research interviews to help users understand what is happening in the market, why it is happening, where and when trends are emerging, and which shoppers are driving them.

TWC Group has identified more than £2bn of potential sales growth opportunities across the two sectors, comprising £1bn in convenience retail and £1bn in foodservice. The company said Channel Track will help businesses identify where those opportunities exist and how to capitalise on them.

The platform will be delivered through six modules covering sector performance, geo-demographics, shopper profiles and category and brand opportunities.

The first module, ‘Market Monitor’, launches in early September and will provide monthly reporting on channel and sub-channel performance over a rolling 12-month period. The data will also be weighted to account for cash transactions.

In convenience, reporting will cover independents and symbol groups, convenience multiples, supermarket convenience stores, discounters and supermarket trips involving baskets worth less than £20. Foodservice reporting will cover pubs and bars, restaurants, quick-service restaurants, takeaways, coffee shops and sandwich bars, with analysis of both independent operators and chains.

TWC Group is offering an introductory annual subscription price of £7,500 plus VAT until 14 September, after which the fee will increase.

Tom Fender, Development Director at TWC Group, said: “Channel Track is a unique service designed specifically for wholesalers, operators and suppliers across the UK route-to-market sector. By combining transaction data and consumer research, it will provide users with a clear understanding of market performance and growth opportunities across convenience retail and foodservice.”
