Co-op opened its newest Scottish store in the village of Gairloch in the North West Highlands on Friday, 12 December.
Gairloch is the tenth Scottish Co-op store to open, or re-open, in recent weeks. Other sites include Co-op stores in Brora; Fortrose; Callander; Irvine; Aberdeen (Kingswells); Evanton; Kingussie and Inverness, which re-opened following transformative investment, plus a brand new store in Selkirk.

The purpose-built Gairloch store has created 20 local jobs, and opens between 7am-10pm daily.
Located on the popular North Coast 500 route, the Gairloch store includes customer car parking with electric vehicle charging and parking bays large enough for camper vans.

The store has a focus on fresh, healthy produce; meats and dairy; food-to-go and meal deals; bakery; Fairtrade goods; pizzas; flowers; ready meals; award winning wines and beers and, everyday essentials.

Costa Coffee Express and a parcel collection locker are coming soon.
Young Scot cardholders receive a discount off groceries in store.

Daniel Simpson, Co-op Area Manager, said: “We’re delighted to invest in Gairloch – we are proud to become part of local community life, we have had a great response today . The store looks fantastic, and we have a focus on being a hub locally for the community and visitors to the area – delivering the quality, choice, value and added services which can be enjoyed by everyone. We’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support the community.”

Soft plastic recycling is available in store – making it easier for shoppers to return and recycle materials that are often not universally accepted via kerbside recycling, such as crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.

Store manager, Helen Fox is joined by local Co-op shopper Nick Gardner MBE to cut the ribbon for the openning.
