We’re pleased to announce that nominations are open for the fourth annual SLR Above & Beyond Awards, celebrating the shopfloor superheroes who make Scotland’s local retailing sector so special.
Created to shine a spotlight on store staff whose passion, commitment and remarkable actions can often go unnoticed, the awards recognise colleagues who have gone well beyond the everyday call of duty for their customers and communities.
Over the past three years, the awards have uncovered some extraordinary stories, from colleagues who have literally saved customers’ lives to staff who have transformed stores and trained teams to better accommodate patients at a nearby dementia hospital.
And there are undoubtedly many more unsung heroes out there waiting to be recognised.
Anyone can nominate a store team member, whether they are a colleague, supplier or wholesaler, and the process couldn’t be simpler.
It couldn’t be quicker or easier:
- Find the simple nomination form online
- All we need from you is some very basic information like:
- the nominee’s name, job title and contact telephone number.
- one or two bullet points on why you believe your nominee should be considered for an award.
- Complete and return to events@55north.com
- Our judging panel will then personally call every nominee to find out a little more from them. It’s a very informal and relaxed call and allows us to gather the information we need to share your nominee’s story with the world.

Nominations take less than a minute to submit, with entrants asked to provide some basic information and explain why their nominee deserves their moment in the spotlight.
SLR will then contact every nominee for a very relaxed chat to hear more about their story.
Once all the calls have been completed, a list of finalists will be drawn up, with every finalist invited free of charge to a celebratory lunch in Glasgow on 10 March 2027.
The event will bring together some of Scotland’s most inspiring store staff for a day of celebration, with a meal, drinks and the chance to meet fellow shopfloor superheroes from across the country.
So, if someone in your store or business regularly goes that extra mile, now is the time to give them the recognition they deserve.
