Booker’s Premier symbol group has celebrated opening its 5,000th Premier store with an £8,000 community giveaway and 5,000 meal donations.
The 5000th store to open was Premier Queensway, based on Northampton Road in Wellingborough, North Northamptonshire, and is owned by Srijeekasikaran Kandiah.
To mark the milestone, Premier has given £1,000 to eight Premier retailers, each from a different region, to donate to a local cause chosen by their customers, such as new equipment for a school, planting flowers in village centres or supporting a local community group.
Booker is also supporting a series of retailer-focused celebrations. These include donating 5,000 family meals to FareShare and local food banks, as well as offering one Premier retailer the chance to win a Premier-branded delivery van. Premier retailers and customers can also look forward to exclusive offers, promotions and exciting giveaways in the months ahead, with more celebrations planned in early 2026.
Colm Johnson, Retail Managing Director at Booker, said: “Reaching 5,000 Premier stores is a phenomenal achievement and a real reflection of the dedication, energy and entrepreneurial spirit of our retailers. This celebration is about saying thank you to our customers, colleagues and communities, and recognising the role they’ve played in getting us here.”
Martyn Parkinson, Sales Director for Premier, said: “This milestone is about more than just a number – it represents the strong relationships and shared successes that have brought us here. Premier has always been focused on supporting independent retailers, providing them with the tools and backing they need to succeed in a competitive market. Reaching this point is a testament to the dedication of our retailers, the strength of our partnerships, and our ongoing commitment to innovation and growth.”
Srijeekasikaran said: “Being part of Premier has had a huge impact on my business. The support from Booker, combined with the strength of the Premier brand, has helped us grow year after year. It’s not just about supply, it’s about partnership. To be recognised as the 5,000th Premier store is a real privilege and a milestone we’re incredibly proud to be part of.”
