Well over a third (41%) of shoppers are now receiving parcels and 44% sending parcels via lockers, according to new research from InPost UK.
Its survey of more than 2,000 UK consumers who had sent or received a parcel in the previous three months also found that:
- over half of locker users’ visits to retail locations are driven by locker use;
- 64% return more frequently;
- 78% make purchases during their visit.
The research also showed that 65% of visits to a convenience store involved a parcel pick‑up or drop‑off, and that lockers are generating incremental spend beyond planned trips, with shoppers spending an average of £5.20 in c‑stores. It further found that 83% of locker users would switch stores if lockers were removed from a convenience store or forecourt.
Paul Selvey, Network Director at InPost, said: “By placing InPost Lockers in the most convenient, high‑traffic locations, we’re creating a service that removes friction for shoppers while driving footfall, repeat visits and incremental sales for sites.
“For our partners, lockers aren’t just a utility, they’re a growth engine. And for shoppers, they’re becoming the smarter standard for modern delivery.”
