In just three weeks, over £1m has been deposited with Paypal’s BankLocal service launched in conjunction with Lloyds.

Making its debut on 26 August, the service saw Lloyds become the first major UK bank to launch a mobile app feature which allows up to £300 per day in cash to be paid in at over 30,000 convenient PayPoint locations nationwide, using a simple barcode.
The first customer transaction on the launch day was processed by Harshil Shah, owner of General Store & Newsagents in Leicester, just hours after the service was made available for Lloyds customers.
Anthony Sappor, Retail Propositions and Partnerships Director, PayPoint, said: “The speed in which the BankLocal service has reached this milestone validates the consumer demand for this service and demonstrates the importance of local convenience stores to the communities they serve. Thanks to our network of over 30,000 PayPoint retailer partners nationwide, we’re looking to seeing the service continue to build momentum and deliver an essential banking service to even more customers in the future.”
Harshil said: “I couldn’t believe how quickly a Lloyds customers used the service! It is great that we can now provide another service for our customers and offer a local and convenient location for local banking services.”
