Old Speckled Hen launches alcohol-free ale

Old Speckled Hen Zero

Damm UK has extended the Old Speckled Hen range with the launch of Old Speckled Hen Zero, a 0.0% ABV version of the premium ale.

The launch follows growing consumer demand for no- and low-alcohol drinks and the trend towards “zebra-striping”, where consumers alternate between alcoholic and alcohol-free beverages.

Old Speckled Hen Zero has been developed to deliver the brand’s signature malty character, with hints of caramel and fruit, while containing just 12kcal per 100ml.

The product is available now in a 4 x 440ml can format in selected Morrisons stores and via Morrisons.com. Cans and 500ml bottles will also be available in Asda stores and online later this month, with the product set to launch across Greene King pubs and other venues as part of a wider rollout.

According to the British Beer and Pub Association, 200 million pints of no- and low-alcohol beer were sold in the UK in 2025, representing almost 3% of the total beer market. Drinkaware’s 2026 Drinkaware Monitor also found that 91% of drinkers are moderating their alcohol intake, up from 87% in 2025.

The launch follows Damm UK’s acquisition of the Old Speckled Hen brand family from Greene King in July. The company said the launch is the first major innovation since the acquisition and reflects its commitment to the long-term growth of the ale brand.
