Allergen-free food brand Nakey Bakey has secured a listing in Scotmid Co-op stores across Scotland after winning the retailer’s Scottish Favourites competition.
Founded by Glenrothes entrepreneur Megan Murrie, who launched the business after struggling to find suitable products while living with endometriosis and a nut allergy, Nakey Bakey produces allergen-free granolas and snacks from a dedicated facility in Fife. The range is free from all 14 major allergens, contains no added sugar and is vegan-friendly.
The Scotmid listing will be supported by wholesaler JW Filshill, helping the business expand its distribution across Scotland.
To support growth, Nakey Bakey has secured a £100,000 invoice finance facility from Bank of Scotland. The funding will be used to invest in stock, increase production capacity and manage the longer payment terms associated with retail contracts.
The business also plans to expand its workforce as production increases, with ambitions to recruit additional employees by the end of 2026.
Nakey Bakey is on a roll since rebranding in 2024, winning Free From Product of the Year at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards, Health & Wellbeing Start-Up of the Year at the Scotland Start-Up Awards and a Great Taste Award for its Mixed Berry Granola. The company has also achieved SALSA food safety accreditation.
