Morgan Freeman voices Warburtons’ 150th‑anniversary ad

Warburtons has unveiled a new brand film starring “the voice of God” Morgan Freeman to mark the bakery’s 150th anniversary.

The two‑minute spot, titled ‘150 Years in the Baking’, will receive its TV premiere on 14 February during ITV’s The Masked Singer, with 60‑ and 30‑second versions to follow.

The ad sees Freeman narrate the Warburtons story from its 1876 Bolton origins to the present day, with set pieces that include a tongue‑in‑cheek moon landing, a cameo from Paddington Bear, and a back-and-forth between the Hollywood legend and Johnathan Warburton about the number of holes in a crumpet. It also nods to previous ads, which the likes of Samuel L Jackson, Robert De Niro, George Clooney, Sylvester Stallone and Olivia Colman have all appeared in.

Morgan Freeman said: “Lending my voice to chronicle 150 years of this family’s unwavering dedication to the simple, yet profound, act of baking… well, that’s a narrative that truly deserves to be heard. And I confess, I found myself quite taken by that crumpet – 300 holes, I told you these Warburtons were crazy!”
