Mondelez International has published a new report outlining the role it plays in the UK economy, highlighting its long-standing investment in manufacturing, innovation and people.
Titled ‘Joy-makers and Growth-creators’, the report draws on more than 200 years of UK manufacturing heritage and sets out how Mondelez continues to grow its well-known brands while supporting jobs and regional growth across the country.
In 2025, the business contributed £2.3bn to the UK economy and supported nearly 12,000 jobs nationwide, with around 3,800 colleagues employed directly across eight UK sites. Mondelez also spent £1.3bn with more than 1,000 UK suppliers, ranging from dairy farmers to logistics firms.
The UK remains Mondelez’s largest global R&D hub, home to more than 700 scientists and engineers working across food science, nutrition and wellbeing. Since 2022, the company has invested £135m in UK manufacturing alongside a further £24m in R&D facilities, while also being recognised as a UK Top Employer for its work on early careers and apprenticeships.
The report also underlines the company’s wider regional impact. In the West Midlands alone, Mondelez contributes close to £600m in gross value added and employs more than 2,000 people. Since 2022, it has donated £7.7m to UK charities, with its Health for Life programme reaching more than 266,000 people.
Alongside the economic snapshot, Mondelez called on government to back the food and drink sector by recognising it as a priority within the Industrial Strategy, supporting a stable regulatory environment and aligning skills reforms with the needs of advanced manufacturing.
Christian Woolfenden, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for UK & Ireland, said: “We’ve been part of the UK’s growth story for more than 200 years. With regulatory stability and a place at the heart of the Industrial Strategy, we can drive further growth and help ease cost-of-living pressures for families across the UK.”
