macb product recall

macb range

Food Standards Scotland has issued a product recall notice for all flavours of macb still water because of a strong odour and an unpleasant taste.

The spoilage of the product is due to the presence of mould.

This is the second recall for the brand in just over two months. A tainted batch of Strawberry & Kiwi flavour 1.5 litre and 330ml bottles were pulled from shelves at the end of June. Despite this, macb said it had received a “small number” of complaints on its other still flavours and bottle sizes.

Keen to stress that the recall was not a food safety issue, a spokesperson for the brand said: “We have therefore taken the decision to withdraw from sale all of our macb Still Flavoured water with best before end dates of July 18, August 18 and September 18 as a precautionary measure.”

Cott Beverages, which makes macb, has already taken steps to withdraw the affected products from the supply chain. It has also set up a dedicated hotline number on 07785 451512.

To reiterate, all flavours of macb are affected, across all sizes  – 330ml, 500ml and 1.5 litre. Packs carry best before dates of July 18, August 18 and September 18.
