Glasgow-based Locavore has picked up the top prize at the UK Social Enterprise awards ceremony in London.

The retailer, which has zero-waste supermarkets in Govanhill, Partick, Garnethill and Kirkintilloch, was named the UK Social Enterprise of the Year. The company aims to make grocery shopping affordable, while at the same time as sourcing from local suppliers.

The judges said that “passion and commitment shone through” in the retailer’s application.
