Police Scotland is encouraging local shops to complete its Retail Crime Taskforce Impact and Engagement survey.

ScotGov recently revealed plans to provide £9m to extend Taskforce funding and its associated activity until March 2029, as revealed in the Scottish Spending Review 2026.

The purpose of the survey is to allow the Taskforce to evaluate the understanding, engagement and impact of the activity being carried out by the Taskforce. The results of this survey will support and inform future activities of the Taskforce and also be utilised as part of Police Scotland’s internal reporting processes and partnership communications.

Since its implementation last April the Taskforce has worked hard to deliver a visible and measurable impact on Retail Crime, adopting a 4Ps approach of Prevent, Pursue, Protect and Prepare.

The Taskforce has already made strong progress, achieving 3,671 shoplifting charges and detections in its first year of operation.

A further 508 charges under the Protection of Workers (Scotland) Act 2021 for offences against retail workers have been made along with a total of 807 arrests.

Retailers have until Friday 20th February to complete the Retail Crime Taskforce Impact and Engagement Survey
