Kellogg’s is backing the STV Children’s Appeal’s Big Scottish Breakfast campaign by pledging to match every £1 raised to support school breakfast clubs across Scotland and help tackle child hunger.
Five-time Scotland’s Strongest Woman and Britain and Europe’s Strongest Woman 2024, Nicola Ann Bennett, joined Scotland’s Strongest Man, Chris Beetham, this week to encourage people to host their own Big Scottish Breakfast between 1–30 September.
The campaign invites people to gather with colleagues, classmates and friends to raise money for eligible Scottish schools. Funds go directly to breakfast clubs, helping children affected by poverty start the day with a full meal and the energy to learn.
A recent survey by Kellogg’s found that 49% of UK teachers had seen more children arriving at school hungry compared to last year. Sixteen per cent said they regularly spend their own money on food for pupils, while 27% have given away food they brought in for themselves. Teachers cited tiredness (81%), difficulty concentrating (79%) and disruptive behaviour (50%) as the most common effects of hunger in the classroom.
Kellogg’s has supported the Big Scottish Breakfast since 2023. This year, it will match every £1 raised up to £100,000. All funds will go towards school breakfast clubs for children across Scotland.
