Blackthorn, the cider range from C&C Brands, has been updated. National Blackthorn has become Blackthorn Gold (abv 4.7%) following a full brand refresh, and Blackthorn Reserve PET (abv 5.5%) will replace the existing Blackthorn 2L PET.
Blackthorn Gold will retain the same taste of National Blackthorn, which was developed by a team of Somerset-based master cider makers over 50 years ago. The new name aims to refresh the brand’s image and has been developed to reflect the cider’s smooth, golden taste. The new design, which is available now, has been developed to enhance the brand’s premium credentials, as well as giving it better standout on fixture.
The brand will also introduce its new Blackthorn Reserve PET this September. The new PET will offer a higher abv of 5.5%, while maintaining the crisp taste of Blackthorn cider. C&C Brands says the new ‘Reserve’ name and packaging redesign will also give the product a more premium look and feel within the PET category, better reflecting its superior quality.

The redesigned Blackthorn Gold is available in single 440ml and 15x440ml, 500ml cans and 3L PET formats. Blackthorn Reserve PET is available in 2L and 2L PMP £2.79 formats.
