Cawston Press moves into low/no with Loah buyout

Loah range

Cawston Press has expanded beyond its soft drinks roots with the acquisition of Loah, a fruit‑led 0.5% ABV beer brand, marking its first move into the fast‑growing low‑ and no‑alcohol category.

Loah — known for its Peach Pale Ale, Blood Orange IPA and Lime Lager — will continue to be led by founder Hugo Tapp, who retains operational responsibility for brewing, innovation and brand development under the new ownership. Cawston Press said the integration will give Loah access to additional supply chain, distribution and marketing resources, helping the brand scale while preserving its flavour‑first approach.

The acquisition reflects growing convergence between soft drinks and no/low alcohol as consumer behaviour shifts. Cawston Press boss Steve Kearns said the move mirrors the way drinkers are increasingly alternating between alcoholic and non‑alcoholic options, with flavour now a key purchasing driver. He added that Loah’s fruit‑led profile makes it a strong strategic fit for the business.

Market data continues to show rapid growth across the no/low segment, with non‑alcoholic beer volumes rising sharply as consumers look for more inclusive options across multiple drinking occasions. Cawston Press plans to leverage its existing grocery and impulse distribution network to build Loah’s presence at retail, while also offering hospitality operators more varied drinks menus.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Loah products are available to trade customers through Cawston Press with immediate effect.
