Campo Viejo has expanded its portfolio with the launch of a new lighter-style Rioja range, marking a shift for the traditionally red-led Spanish wine brand.
The new Campo Viejo Contemporary line comprises a Blanco and a Rosé, both at 10.5% ABV, significantly lower than the brand’s core Rioja wines, which typically sit between 12% and 14%.
The range has an RSP of £9.50 per 750ml bottle.
Developed by owner Vinarchy, the launch reflects growing demand for lighter-style alcoholic drinks, with the business describing it as the first Rioja offering designed specifically to meet this trend.
The wines have been crafted using higher-altitude vineyards and an early harvest approach, helping deliver naturally lower alcohol levels while maintaining freshness and balance.
The Blanco is made from Viura and White Tempranillo, offering citrus and floral notes, while the Rosé features red berry and strawberry flavours with a lighter, fresher profile.
The launch will be supported by a dedicated campaign spanning social media, creator content and in-store activation.
The range also benefits from wider brand investment through Campo Viejo’s ongoing ‘Add Some Pasión’ campaign, which includes TV, digital and in-store activity backed by a £1.4m media spend.
The introduction represents a move beyond Campo Viejo’s traditional Rioja identity, which has historically centred on red wines, with the new line designed to broaden appeal across different drinking occasions.
