Organic food supplier Biona has launched three new spelt breakfast cereals.
First in the new range is Biona’s organic Crispy Spelt Flakes, which is made from 100% whole organic spelt and nothing else, with an RSP of £3.29. Toasted for a light, crispy texture and naturally high in fibre and wholegrain, with no added sugar, salt or additives, it’s positioned as a clean-label cereal for health-conscious households.
Next comes organic Spelt Puffs, made entirely from 100% organic puffed spelt, with an RSP of £2.69. Naturally high in fibre and wholegrain, with no added sugar, salt or processing, the HFSS-compliant cereal is completely UPF-free.
Finally, organic Honey Spelt Puffs (RSP £3.49) enjoy the addition of honey for a gently sweet, fibre-rich start to the day with no added sugar or syrups.
The launch comes as health‑motivated breakfast choices are up 3.3% year on year. Spelt – an ancient grain with a 7,000‑year history – continues its resurgence as a nutritious, nutty-flavoured alternative to modern wheat, valued for its fibre, protein, vitamin and mineral content.
