Green for go with Spar traffic lights

Spar UK is racing ahead in making changes to traffic light labeling on its products – with the company revealing that more than 80% of artwork now signed off ahead of schedule.
A total of 200 products are already in store using the new labeling now, well ahead of the December 2014 deadline, with many more due to hit the shelves soon.
The completed ranges include: tinned tuna, ice cream, sandwiches, bacon, flavoured milk, flour, coffee, fresh cream, bread, continental meats and bakery products.
Susan Darbyshire, Spar UK Brand Director, explained: “This year, we have been busy changing the packaging of our Spar Brand range to meet new food legislation and help customers make healthier choices.”
Having reviewed every product in the range, Spar UK identified nearly 600 lines that would need a packaging change to meet the new legislation.
“We have now assessed and redeveloped each of these products to add the traffic light labelling and to make sure the amount of red labels were as low as possible,” concluded Darbyshire.
